Modaka

 Ingredients:

  • Maida (All purpose flour)  - 2 cups
  • Heated Ghee or oil - 2 tbsp
  • Grated Coconut or Grated Copra - 1.5 cups
  • Sugar - 1 cup(powdered)
  • Cardamom powder -1 tbsp
  • Sesame - 1 tbsp
  • Oil for frying

Preparation method:
1. Take Maida in a small bowl and add 2 tbsp of heated ghee/oil , salt  and mix well. Then keep adding the water until it forms a smooth dough (like chapathi dough) and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
2. Now take the grated coconut in a small kadai and add add some ghee, sugar, cardamom powder, sesame and mix it well. This is called Hoorna in kannada.
3. take small balls from the maida dough and roll it into small poori size. Roll it to the thinnest possible so that your modaka layer will be crispy
4. Take the Hoorna and put it in the center of the rolled dough and make the shape as shown in the picture
5. Heat the Oil in Kadai and fry until the modaka turns out to be Golden brown

Now Modaka is ready to serve.
